The project "Peças e Pessoas" was selected under public notice number 22/2020, "Production and Publication of Comic Book Works for Authors with Publisher Approval or Publishers with Author Approval," by the Cultural Action Program (PROAC) of the Secretary of Culture and Creative Economy of the State Government of São Paulo."

"Published by Editora de Cultura, "A Oitava Casa" is the first comic book by visual artist Daniela Campos, inspired by "Peças e Pessoas" by playwright and film and TV screenwriter Luís Alberto de Abreu. In the story, the pawn Lio, accompanied by a retired horse, a hero from past times, witnesses a tragic event in a chess game and, indignant, sets out in search of a way to end the injustices of the system in which he lives.
"I think the play has content that brings a very strong connection to our reality in social and political issues. (...) I saw that visually it is an interesting way because it has this relationship of people being chess pieces and being in a game, making it an attractive way to reflect on the subject," comments the author.
In the original script, the story focuses on the old kingdom of Navarro, with resources on the verge of exhaustion and a society structured around outdated traditions, involved in constant disputes between two peoples who war over territories, power and natural resources. In these confrontations, it is always the pawns who are the first to be sacrificed.
The comic book “A Oitava Casa”, has 120 pages, a color cover and a black and white core.”
